Synopsis:
The last snowfalls already seem a long way off: it’s been nearly a month since the sky has remained stingy. Fortunately, the persistent cold keeps the snow in surprisingly good condition, despite the growing need for more. Thanks to the exceptional work of the ski lift teams, the slopes of our domain, Les Portes du Soleil, remain an inspiring playground.
No freeriding this time: the mountain reveals itself differently. With our new onboard cameras and tracking drones ready to capture every movement, we embarked on two days of on-piste escape.
Under a blazing sun and above the fog covering the plain, join our team as they carve elegant turns with precision, weaving boldly and fluidly among unpredictable tourists.
The story:
Monday, 7:30 a.m., Marc drops little Djulian off at daycare before meeting up with the team in Morgins. It hasn’t snowed in a month, but the persistent cold has preserved the snow in excellent condition. Thanks to the remarkable work of the ski lift teams, the slopes are in perfect shape, providing an ideal setting to continue our equipment tests.
Under a radiant sun and above the fog smothering the plains, we start the day equipped with 360° cameras and stabilized cameras. The first runs go smoothly, but the unexpected crowds during this off-peak period sometimes complicate things. Tourists, often beginners, have unpredictable trajectories, requiring us to stay vigilant and reactive. Despite these challenges, the day proves productive: after covering nearly 60 km and conducting successful tests, we end the day satisfied and eager to continue the next day.
Tuesday begins more calmly, with a smaller team: just Marc and Alban. This allows them to focus more on fine-tuning the equipment. However, the small drone equipped with an automatic tracking system doesn’t work as planned: it stops after only a few meters, forcing the team to retrieve it regularly. Despite these technical setbacks, the atmosphere remains light, punctuated by laughter and playful teasing.
In the end, these two days under clear skies, far from the bustle of the plains and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, allowed us to capture beautiful footage: fluid turns and authentic moments. An adventure defined by adaptability and creativity.
Now, it’s time for editing.
